Alberta RCMP announced Friday that four people are facing at least 27 charges related to a pair of carjackings, stolen drugs and a pickup that was driven into a pharmacy and then torched.

The first day of Alberta’s rollout of free, at-home COVID-19 rapid test kits saw demand greatly exceed supply in many areas.

The province also reported 54 new cases of the Omicron variant, raising Alberta’s total from 119 on Thursday up to 173 on Friday.

Starting Friday, Albertans can pick up a free rapid COVID-19 test kit at select pharmacies and Alberta Health Services sites.
