What if we slapped carbon taxes on shareholders not consumers?: About 10 years ago, a very thick book written by a French economist became a surprising bestseller. It was called âCapital in the 21st Century.â In it, Thomas Piketty traces the history of income and wealth inequality over the past couple of hundred years.
The bookâs insights struck a chord with people who felt a growing sense of economic inequality but didnât have the data to back it up. I was one of them. It made me wonder, how much carbon pollution is being generated to create wealth for a small group of extremely rich households? Two kids, 10 years and a Ph.D. later, I finally have some answers.

RCMP looking into the Ford government Greenbelt controversy | Globalnews.ca: The RCMP has confirmed that it is looking into the Ford governmentâs Greenbelt land swap controversy after the matter was referred to them by Ontario Provincial Police.
The RCMP initially issued a statement which said they were asked to
âinvestigate irregularities in the disposition of the Greenbelt
surrounding Torontoâ by Ontario Provincial Police.
They later issued a second statement to clarify where they stood with regards to the Greenbelt.
âAt
this time, RCMP O Division are beginning our evaluation of the
available information as referred by the Ontario Provincial Police,â the
second statement said. âAfter we have conducted a full assessment, we
will determine whether to launch an  investigation.â
