Alberta’s privacy commissioner says she’s “extremely disappointed” her office wasn’t consulted before the government introduced an omnibus bill Thursday that affects how health records are used.

If passed, the Health Statutes Amendments Act 2020 (Bill 46) would give medical examiners access to electronic health records for investigations, and medical staff across the border in Lloydminster would be able to look up Albertans’ pertinent medical records if necessary, among other changes.
