Typora — a markdown editor and a markdown reader
If you spend a lot of time taking notes, Typora can help keep you organized. Markdown is a lightweight markup language with plain-text-formatting syntax. It's often used for formatting readme files, for writing messages in online discussion forums, and to create rich text using a plain text editor. It makes it quick and east to create, edit and format text files.
This program is great for reading them too. Plus, if you want to, you can export them in various file formats, like pdf, .epub, html, Word .docx, Open Office, RTF and more.
The program is in Beta currently, and is being offered for free, for now. It's available for Windows OS X and Linux.
I just learned about it tonight and downloaded a copy. I think it will likely be one of my most favourite programs.
Attached to this post is a pdf created from this program to give you an example of what it produces. You'll see it's made bookmarks out of headings, to help navigate the document.
