The poll, completed in May-June 2022, found that a majority (54%) of
Canadian voters say they can’t vote for a federal party that doesn’t
have a strong climate plan. On this point, young people and Quebecers
feel the most strongly: nearly two thirds (65%) of Canadian voters aged
18 to 34 agreed with this viewpoint, as did 59% of voters in Quebec.

What’s more, 70% of voters support the federal government’s goal of
achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. About the same number (69%)
support the climate measures in the government’s Emissions Reduction
Plan (ERP). The ERP includes objectives like reducing emissions 40-45%
by 2030, achieving a non-emitting electricity grid by 2035, and
implementing a 100% zero-emission sales mandate for passenger vehicles
by 2035.

‘Very profound’: Hundreds of residential school photos found in Rome archives:

Raymond Frogner says when he found images of residential school
students in the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate archives in Rome,
he knew he was looking at something important.

“It did have a very historic feeling to it, very profound,” the head
archivist for the Winnipeg-based Centre for Truth and Reconciliation
said in a recent interview with The Canadian Press.

Few archivists are able to explore the religious order’s private
records in the Italian city, Frogner said. But he spent five days early
last month looking through the archives at the Oblate General House,
where photos, personnel files and manuscripts describe the group’s
actions around the world since its founding in 1816.

That legacy includes a significant presence in Canada.

Provincial government funding to a Saskatoon Christian school must be frozen in light of a series of abuse allegations, says the leader of the NDP Opposition.

“I’m heartbroken to think this was the experience that shaped these young lives,” Carla Beck said Wednesday.

Some former students of Saskatoon’s Christian Centre Academy, now called Legacy Christian Academy, are going even further. They are demanding the school be permanently closed.

“I think it should be shut down — 100 per cent,” said former student Jillian Kudryk.
