Edmonton-based Métis singer-songwriter Celeigh Cardinal has earned one of the highest honours in Canadian music.
Cardinal earned a 2020 Juno Award for Indigenous Artist of the Year on Monday during a special virtual ceremony after the COVID-19 pandemic cancelled in-person ceremonies that were set to take place in Saskatoon in March.

In the U.S, Boogaloos have recently been in the spotlight, after some showed up heavily armed at anti-lockdown and Black Lives Matter demonstrations.
There are no reports of Boogaloos at Canadian protests. But online, the nascent movement has inspired at least two Facebook pages where followers have recently talked about killing protesters and RCMP officers alike.
The Facebook pages identified by CBC News were created in the past six months and in that time grew to around 800 followers each.

Kenney seemed most animated about his new rescue plan for his
province’s recessionary economy when he was talking about his pitch to
steal financial firms away from Toronto. As of Wednesday, Alberta’s
corporate tax rate will fall to eight per cent, down three points from
the current rate and 3.5 percentage points below Ontario’s.
“Although many countries have made some progress, globally, the pandemic is actually speeding up,” he said during a virtual news conference from the agency’s Geneva headquarters. “We all want this to be over. We all want to get on with our lives, but the hard reality is that this is not even close to being over.”
The virus has infected more than 10.1 million people around the world and killed more than 502,000 people so far, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University. More than 60% of daily new cases came from countries in the Americas on Sunday, according to data published by the WHO.
