the drought comes at “at the worst time of crop development,” as some

Ranchers across the prairies are struggling, as well, as grazing
lands and hay crops yield less feed than usual. With limited supply,
demand for feed is driving up prices and pushing producers to sell their

“Twenty-five percent to half of our cow herd is just going to
disappear with the drought…and the feed scenario that we’re in,” said
Donnie Peacock, an auctioneer in Saskatchewan. He told CBC producers are
selling off calves earlier than usual, and even parting with their
breeding cows.

25,000 Ads, 431 Million Views as Facebook Lets Fossils Spread Climate Misinformation – The Energy Mix: “Despite Facebook’s public support for climate action, it continues
to allow its platform to be used to spread fossil fuel propaganda,” the
report stated.
“Not only is Facebook inadequately enforcing its existing advertising
policies, it’s clear that these policies are not keeping pace with the
critical need for urgent climate action.”

The analysis showed the fossils’ investment in Facebook ads ramping
up in July 2020, right after then-Democratic presidential candidate Joe
Biden announced a $2-trillion climate plan. “This suggests the oil and
gas industry uses Facebook advertising strategically and for politically
motivated purposes,” InfluenceMap wrote.

Of the $9.5 million spent by the 25 fossil groups, InfluenceMap
found, $5 million came from colossal fossil ExxonMobil, and groups led
by the American Petroleum Institute pitched in another $3 million. The
organizations placed more than 25,000 ads on Facebook that were viewed
more than 431 million times.

Seniors cut off from income supplement after receiving emergency benefits: In a letter sent to three Liberal cabinet ministers, NDP MP Daniel
Blaikie said many seniors who received the CERB and Canada Recovery
Benefit either do not qualify for the guaranteed income supplement or
face drastic deductions to it.

“They’re just not going to have enough income at the end of the month
in order to pay their bills. And what we feared would happen last year
will end up happening this year,” Blaikie said in an interview.
