A citywide parking ban begins Tuesday night in Edmonton so crews can clear major roads, core business areas and bus routes after close to 15 centimetres of snow blanketed the city.

After going to bed under a snowfall warning, most Edmontonians woke up to find roughly 10 to 15 centimetres of fluffy, fresh snow on the ground.

Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland will not appear in person to provide her accounting of federal finances today because of concerns over COVID-19.

“[The triggers] give some certainty and some hope to people that if numbers drop to a certain level, that we can actually look at it again,” said Mayor Amarjeet Sohi.

Alberta Education is moving ahead with implementing its new kindergarten to Grade 6 curriculum in three subjects next September, but is rewriting its contentious social studies program and won’t send several subjects into classrooms until a later date.
