UNDRIP bill reaches end of its journey: This passed even after repeated attempts by the Mohawk Council of
Kahnawake (MCK) and the Assembly of the First Nations Quebec-Labrador
(AFNQL) to include amendments in the bill in order to support it.
“Everything that I am seeing will point out to me that in terms of Bill
C-15, the battle will go on,” said MCK chief Ross Montour.

“But for now, the government has succeeded in passing some neutered
law that names the declaration without it being the declaration. It’s
really a colonial approach and mindset.”

Court Freezes Dangerous Arctic Drilling Plan, But Biden Administration Won’t Ice It for Good: During the previous administration, the oil industry made a mad dash to drill into the oil-rich depths beneath the Arctic tundra. Big Oil can’t increase production and pretend it’s part of the climate solution – Environmental Defence: That was the timeline laid down by the most prestigious body of climate scientists for limiting warming to 1.5 degrees, the “safe” threshold for global warming.

But it’s clear that many big polluters are only using it as
greenwash. After all, if you make a product that is the cause of climate
change in the first place–fossil fuels like coal, oil, and gas–your
approach to tackling climate change better be to fundamentally change
your business model, and stop producing this dangerous product.

Two more extreme right-wing groups join Proud Boys on Canada’s terror list:
Public Safety Minister Bill Blair announced today that the Three
Percenters and Aryan Strikeforce will join the list alongside the Proud
Boys, who were added in February after the storming of Capitol Hill in
Washington on Jan. 6.

Members of the Three Percenters have been linked to a plot to kidnap
the governor of Michigan, and senior intelligence officials say Canadian
chapters have carried out training activities in Alberta and British
Columbia.
