KJIPUKTUK (Halifax) – Like Singh’s NDP, Trudeau is campaigning on a
national pharmacare plan. However, it’s important to note that Trudeau,
unlike Singh, did not say this plan would be universal, nor does his
budget provide sufficient funds.

Federal election 2019: What’s in it for seniors?
And while Canadians in their 20s and 30s are struggling with student debt, sky-high housing prices and unaffordable child care, seniors face some serious affordability challenges of their own.
Many , for example, have little in the way of retirement savings. A 2018 poll by CIBC found that 32 per cent had nothing at all set aside for old age. But even those who have been saving up are often worried about outliving their money.
Which party has the most effective carbon plan, and how will it affect the economy?
The four major federal political parties — the
Liberals, Conservatives, NDP and Green Party — have spelled out their
targets and policies in their platforms. (The People’s Party of Canada
does not consider human-caused climate change a threat, and the Bloc
Québécois does not have a national climate plan, but supports policies
aligned with Quebec’s provincial plan.)
The parties have all pledged to meet, or exceed,
Canada’s stated goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions to 30 per
cent below 2005 levels by 2030.

economy tended to make three points: It’s possible. It likely won’t be
comfortable. And it’s going to take a lot of political will.
Marc Lee, senior economist with the B.C.
office of the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives, says how easily
we transition depends on how quickly we begin to move quickly to slash
emissions.
“If you’re trying to get to zero next year,
it’s going to be disruptive,” he says. “If you have two to three
decades as the period to manage that transition, then it shouldn’t be a
problem.” A 30-year transition — with steady progress during that period
— puts us in line with current predictions for avoiding catastrophic
climate change, he added.
