the year; in later comments, McNaughton backed the government’s law as
“fair and responsible.”
His latter stance runs contrary to the view of labour groups including the
Canadian Union of Public Employees, the Service Employees International
Union, the United Steelworkers, the Public Service Alliance of Canada
and numerous others, all of which have vowed to fight the legislation in
court.
