Suncor going ahead with $300MM new Alberta wind farm | Renewables | JWN Energy
Suncor Energy is significantly expanding its position in Canadian wind power, announcing on Monday it will go ahead with a the first phase of a major new wind farm in Southern Alberta.
The project, called Forty Mile, is located on approximately 50,000 acres of private land, south and east of the town of Bow Island, the company says.
The first $300-million phase will have 200 MW of generating capacity, and is expected to be in commercial service in December 2021.

Canada’s logging industry has a larger and more damaging impact on forest health than previously thought, a new report has found, casting doubt on the sustainability of forestry management in the country.
The findings also raise questions about Canada’s ability to make good on its international climate commitments, which partly rely on forests for carbon sequestration.

A major milestone for Trans Mountain – 660 NEWS
It is a day many in Alberta thought would never come, the start of right-of-way construction for the Trans Mountain expansion.
Canada’s new federal Energy Minister Seamus O’Regan, Alberta’s Energy Minister Sonya Savage, and Trans Mountain’s CEO and President made an announcement west of Edmonton on Tuesday.
A ceremonial groundbreaking ceremony was held, where Anderson
declared they would make this “the best darn pipeline in the world.”
