About 65% of these
deaths are due to burning of fossil fuels, with the remainder due to
such activities as biomass burning and agriculture. Eliminating
human-caused air pollution would also significantly reduce drought in
monsoon regions, but it would allow more sunlight to reach the surface,
increasing Earth’s surface temperature by at least 0.36°C (0.65°F).
Overall, the effects would be hugely beneficial.

Minnesota energy regulator gives OK to Enbridge’s proposed Line 3 pipeline replacement | CBC News
Line 3 has carried Canadian crude since the 1960s and is showing its age. The new line would cross Alberta, a corner of North Dakota and northern Minnesota to an Enbridge terminal in Superior, Wisconsin. B.C. Enables Billions in Tax Subsidies for LNG Development – The Energy Mix
the announcement “confirms multi-billion dollar giveaways to foreign
multinationals that make it impossible to meet meaningful climate targets.”
“Why is our government spending billions to subsidize fossil
fuel corporations when the resulting extreme weather will put B.C. communities
at risk of increasing wildfires and drought, and rob our young people of a
livable future?” asked Campaigns Director Caitlyn Vernon. “We have just 11
years to limit climate pollution and defend our life support systems Yet
instead of doubling down on the energy efficiency retrofits and public
transportation infrastructure needed to fulfill the important CleanBC program,
this government is throwing fuel on the flames of the climate crisis.”
The plan is to treat the pulp effluent on-site in a “biological activated sludge” plant and to pump up to 85 million litres a day of warm treated effluent through a pipe nearly a metre in diameter and 11 kilometres long to the Caribou wharf, and then 4.1 kilometres out into the fishing grounds of Caribou Harbour.
