Notley’s government puts priority on health care in Alberta throne speech
The throne speech focused on the accomplishments of Notley’s government over the previous four years, from building schools, roads and hospitals to providing more supports for seniors, students and those in need.
It also criticized the former Progressive Conservative government, and said the current government has been working to overcome the failures of the past ones.
“We cannot – we must not – allow two different Albertas to form: one for the wealthy and one for everyone else,” said Mitchell.
Canada’s Top Bureaucrat At Heart Of SNC-Lavalin Affair To Step Down
OTTAWA — Michael Wernick — the country’s top bureaucrat — is leaving his job, telling Prime Minister Justin Trudeau that recent events have made it clear it would be impossible for him to maintain a “relationship of mutual trust” with the opposition parties.
In a letter to Trudeau released Monday, Wernick says he plans to leave his post before this fall’s federal election campaign kicks off, partly because the clerk needs to be viewed as “an impartial arbiter of whether serious foreign interference has occurred” as part of a new federal watchdog panel.
“It is now apparent that there is no path for me to have a relationship of mutual trust and respect with the leaders of the opposition parties,” Wernick writes. #cdnpoli

Elections Commissioner Lorne Gibson started issuing fines in relation
to his investigation into the Callaway campaign, Kenney suggested it had
nothing to do with his campaign.
The Conservatives were set up to potentially trigger a marathon voting session in the House of Commons on Monday that could have delayed the tabling of the budget — until the government stepped in.
Because these tactics are only allowed on set “opposition days,” — where the other parties get to set the agenda and set the topic for debate — the Liberals tweaked the schedule to make Wednesday the opposition day instead of Monday. They then informed the other parties. #cdnpoli
