UCP complaint over deleted government emails ‘unsubstantiated’: Privacy commissioner
allthecanadianpolitics:
Government and political staffers did nothing wrong when they deleted more than 800,000 emails across several ministries, Alberta’s privacy commissioner Jill Clayton has found.
However, she also found flaws in email practices, including a lack of consistency around the storage of official records.
Clayton’s report, released Tuesday, stems from a complaint made by the official Opposition in 2017.
Back when the Wildrose Party was official opposition, it asked for numbers of managerial and director government email records. A few months later it asked for similar information, and found 859,861 emails across government departments had been deleted.
