allthecanadianpolitics:
Vote wisely
This is false.
The NDP opposes all oil pipelines:
‘We don’t believe in buying leaky pipelines,’ says NDP’s Singh
Say No to increased tanker traffic on our coast « Canada’s NDP
Jagmeet Singh’s climate plan includes stance against Kinder Morgan, Energy East pipelines
The NDP also opposes LNG and Fracking:
“At this point, there’s some concerns that I’ve raised and it [LNG Canada] has not satisfied all those criteria,” Singh said.
He also voiced more general concerns for the long-term viability of the oil and natural-gas sector as a whole.
“I do not believe fracking is a future for Canada and I believe that fossil fuels are not the future energy source for Canada,” he said.
“We do not support fracking.”
IT’S TIME FOR A ROADMAP TO EMISSIONS reductions that puts our communities, and our planet, on the path to good health and sustainability. Under Liberal and Conservative governments, Canada is not even on track to meet the modest targets we already have – let alone, the stronger ones required to prevent dangerous climate change.
A New Democrat government will declare a climate emergency and put in place ambitious, science-based greenhouse gas reductions targets that will help stabilize the global temperature rise to 1.5 degrees Celsius.
We’ll put these targets in legislation and ensure accountability by creating an independent Climate Accountability Office to do regular audits of progress towards our climate goals. Recognizing that putting a price on carbon is an important tool to drive greenhouse gas reductions at the source, we will continue carbon pricing, including rebates to households that fall under the federal backstop plan, while making it fairer and rolling back the breaks this Liberal government has given to big polluters.
The federal government can also model change by becoming a trail-blazer in energy efficiency, clean technologies, and renewable energy use. We will lead by example and procure from Canadian companies producing clean technology, ensure that federal buildings use renewable energy, and move the vehicle fleets of the federal government to electric by 2025, choosing made-in-Canada wherever possible.
Lets also not forget that the Green Party of Canada wants to expand refinement of Alberta’s Tar Sands, which is hardly a ‘Green’ move:
Greens call for ban on foreign oil imports, using Alberta oil instead
Federal Green Party leader does 180 on Alberta Bitumen
You can vote how you want, but lets not make things up.
Singh stumbled when asked about his stance on liquefied natural gas
during the debate. The NDP leader has come out against the Trans
Mountain oil pipeline expansion, but has avoided giving a clear answer
on LNG development in B.C., which has the support of the provincial NDP
government. “What I support is the fact that British Columbia is a
province with one of the best climate action plans in the country,” he
said.
May gave a clearer answer, saying the need to take rapid
action on climate change means that neither the Trans Mountain expansion
nor B.C.’s LNG Canada project should proceed.
Singh is wavering on supporting fossil fuel projects just like Trudeau was last election when he was asked if he supported the war in Syria. He said he didn’t, but then when he saw Mulcair drop in the polls for for his support of bringing our people home, Trudeau said he DID support the war. He flip-flopped on other issues as well. Mulcair never wavered.
Elizabeth May knows you just can’t shut off the taps completely but there will be a declining support as we transition to greener energy. Fossil fuel subsidies will be stopped right away.
I’m not telling lies. You may choose to believe whatever you want. It doesn’t mean the rest of us do.
